About NatureNotes

OUR STORY

For years …

we have been going on nature walks, visiting museums, perusing botanical gardens, walking around towns and cities, and taking pictures where we go.

Once we got home we stored the pictures, showed some to friends, then rarely looked at them again. We rarely recorded details such as names of plants, descriptions in museum exhibits, and exact places we visited. One always thinks “oh, we’ll remember that,” but that’s a little lame; we knew better. It’s remarkably difficult to achieve a balance between enjoyment “in the moment” and keeping a record of what we would like to be reminded of (and possibly share with others) later on.

So in 2018 …

the idea of NatureNotes came to mind. Maybe not the name, but the concept to take an iPhone along on a hike (or whatever) and use it to record pictures, information, and locations. This isn’t particularly innovative, as such, but combining everything in a relatively easy-to-use app that allows one to easily record observations on the fly, with minimal effort, seemed to be an unfulfilled concept.

Where should we go next?

We encourage users to contact us with feedback and questions. Although we use NatureNotes ourselves all the time, we don’t use all it’s features all the time, and so if anything needs to be adjusted or improved, or if there’s something lacking that should be there, we would love to hear about it.
