Record your adventure
If you go somewhere that you’d like to make records of what you see and where you’ve been, and maybe share your experiences with others, then you’ll find NatureNotes useful. NatureNotes allows you to record what you’ve seen and where you’ve seen it.
NatureNotes has a variety of functions that provide more advanced operations, such as creating a Web page, or importing photos from another camera. Because NatureNotes records GPS coordinates continuously, it can be used to assign GPS coordinates to photographs taken with another camera.
Version 6 Has been released
Version 6 of NatureNotes is a major upgrade from prior versions. Probably the largest modification is to the slideshow option, which had been limited in scope to representing single walk records in a very limited context. The slideshow is now an independent module that can operate across walk records and forms the basis for sharing, either through email or a Web folder. A consequence of this change is that screens needed to be modified to reflect the new functioning. This tutorial will be adjusted over time ro reflect these changes, although the app itself should largely be self-explanatory in its functions.
Are you upgrading to a new device?
If you are moving to a new iPhone or iPad, it may be important to back up your NatureNotes database using a direct connection to a folder on your computer. This can be true for any application that saves data to a file on your device. It appears that in some cases database files are not transferred using Apple’s normal file transference systems, and it is critical to ensure you don’t lose your photos and other information you have saved. Please read How to Backup NatureNotes below for information as to how to save and potentially restore your data.
